Algebra and pre-algebra
Pre-algebra is the point where practice has to be built rather than drawn at random: an equation with a fractional solution teaches nothing about solving equations. These generators work backwards from the answer you want pupils to reach, then build the question around it.
Order of operations worksheetsExpressions that only come out right if the operations are done in the correct order, with brackets switched on or off and every answer a whole number.Grade 4–Grade 8Algebra and pre-algebraOne step equations worksheetsEquations solved in a single move — add, subtract, multiply or divide — with whole-number solutions by construction, so no answer ever comes out as a fraction.Grade 5–Grade 8Algebra and pre-algebraTwo step equations worksheetsEquations of the form ax + b = c, always with a whole-number solution, with negative coefficients and constants when you want them.Grade 6–Grade 9Algebra and pre-algebraIntegers worksheetsAdding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing negative numbers, with the negatives written in brackets so the signs stay readable.Grade 6–Grade 9Algebra and pre-algebraSimplifying expressions worksheetsCollect like terms: expressions with two variables and a constant, shuffled so the like terms are not already next to each other.Grade 6–Grade 9Algebra and pre-algebraExponents worksheetsPowers written the way they are printed, with the exponent raised: work out the value, or write a repeated multiplication as a power.Grade 5–Grade 9Algebra and pre-algebraSquare roots worksheetsSquare roots of perfect squares, so every answer is a whole number, with squares on the same page when you want both directions.Grade 6–Grade 9Algebra and pre-algebra
